1. What Dropline does with your words
Dropline makes the smallest edits that turn speech into writing. When it isn't sure, it leaves your words alone.
| You say | Dropline types |
|---|---|
| "um, can we move it to Thursday, I mean, Friday" | Can we move it to Friday? |
| "the call starts at nine fifteen" | The call starts at 9:15 |
| "let's meet at the, uh, the usual place" | Let's meet at the usual place. |
- Fillers and stutters are removed: um, uh, you know, and words said twice.
- Changes of mind are applied: say "no wait" or "I mean" and only the final version is typed.
- Numbers look like numbers: times, prices, percentages and counts are written as digits.
- Layout fits the app: relaxed in chat, punctuated in email, a numbered list in a doc, one line in a terminal.
- No rewording in Dictate: Dropline doesn't change what you meant. On a Mac, Edit mode rewrites selected text when you ask it to ("make it shorter", "fix the typos").
2. Context that gets names right
Dropline uses your dictionary and the names and terms visible on your screen while you dictate. As you work, it learns the names and terms it keeps seeing on screen, and it remembers what you've been working on recently. "Katherine" comes out as Kathryn if that's how your colleague spells it; "use effect" comes out as useEffect.

4. When Typeless is the better choice
- You need Linux or a phone. Typeless runs on Linux, iOS and Android. Dropline is Mac and Windows only.
- You speak a language outside Dropline's four. Typeless lists 100+ languages.
- You have an Intel Mac. Dropline's Mac app needs Apple silicon and macOS 15.4 or later.
- You need voice editing on Windows. On Windows, Dropline does Dictate only for now, and it's a beta with an installer that isn't signed yet.
- You want a plan for a whole company. Typeless sells an Enterprise plan; Dropline doesn't have team plans yet.
5. How to start
- Download Dropline and sign in with a Fish Audio account.

- Talk, let go, and the text appears at the cursor. Press Esc to cancel a recording.
6. FAQ
How much does Dropline cost?
Nothing during the Preview, and there are no word limits during the Preview. A single recording can run up to 3 minutes.
Do I need to change keyboards or input sources?
No. Dropline works with whatever input source is selected, pastes the text for you, and puts your clipboard back.
Can I mix Chinese and English?
Yes. English and Chinese can be mixed in the same sentence, and Dropline never translates one into the other.
Does Dropline work offline?
No. It needs an internet connection.
What's different on Windows?
The Windows beta does Dictate: hold Ctrl + Win to talk. Edit mode is Mac-only for now.
